Have you ever met someone in the beginning of their dance practice? Someone who was just introducing themselves to dance? Could you feel their joy, curiosity, humility and also admiration for those who were couple steps or years ahead on their dance path?
And then meeting the same person a while after, when they have more experience, more progress, maybe some achievements but also being more distant and disconnected in the relationship with you?
It is possible that with the success they achieved, their ego took over.
I have experienced these moments couple times in my life and I always appreciate those who are able to stay humble on their creative path. Those who are aware that there is something bigger than them and that they are being used as a tool for the expression of something higher. Dance, art, creativity is a spiritual experience. I appreciate those who are able to surrender and not to take themselves too seriously. Those who are aware that it's not them who creates the magic. The magic comes through us if we allow it. If we are able to cultivate our internal environment for it to happen. And if we are able to step aside with our ego.
In order to connect ourselves with our true essence, it might be helpful to remind ourselves when we were children. And invite the qualities of a child back to our lives. Being playful, joyful, curious, excited, cheerful, in wonder, true, honest...These are the qualities that can support us on our creative journey so we can enjoy it and not to take ourselves too seriously. It is also a prevention of a burnout. And it is a gift for us and all that we encounter. So stay playful, joyful and curious. Be Like a Child.
With Love,
Jindriska
